THE FUTURE STARS CHAMPIONSHIP

Future Stars is a unique championship that allows riders from different classes compete against each other without taking part in the same races. The Championship is only open to riders who are under 21 on the opening day of the Masters Championship and it carries a prize fund which is shared between the top three in the championship at the end of the year.

POINTS STRUCTURE
The points structure is designed to find Ireland’s top young racers by offering them the chance to win more points by competing in the more competitive championship classes. The more of their competitors that a rider beats in a race the more points they will earn. There is also a bonus system for winning your class with six bonus points going to a race winner, four for second place and three for third.

BONUS POINTS
Class win – 6 points
Class second – 4 points
Class third – 2 points

FINISHING POSITION POINTS
One per class finisher beaten, up to a maximum of fourteen points. The maximum is due to their being a limit of fifteen points scorers in any race so a rider can only be ahead of a maximum of fourteen other points scorers.

POINTS EXAMPLE
A rider finishes second in class, in a race where there are ten finishers in their class.
Bonus points – 4
Finishing place points – 8
Total – 12
